Best British Beaches: Teän, Scilly Isles

Posted 5 March by Mason Jones

In the spirit of 'social distancing' we thought that this may be a creative solution to avoiding any crowding issues! The Isles of Scilly are a cluster of picturesque islands 25 miles off the southwestern tip of Cornwall. Tean is an uninhabited jewel between Tresco and St Martins islands. On a clear, warm and sunny day in these parts the azure-blue, crystal clear waters and bright white beaches shimmering with quartz particles can seem like a tropical paradise rather than somewhere that is - technically - in England...

This rugged island is roughly 40 acres in area with the highest point, Great Hill, offering stunning views.  Informal boat trips offer access to many of these rugged 'Scillonian' outcrops, and are a great way of experiencing the abundant bird life, colonies of seals and glorious seascapes.

Obviously, access to Tean requires respecting the wishes and personal space of the local community, and also the up-to-date advice of visitislesofscilly.com with regards to potential travel restrictions.
